Technical Counselor
Melanie Sedia
Melanie’s journey into the bakery world started with curiosity. Inspired by the culinary expertise she saw on food-centric TV shows, Melanie followed her passion and earned an associate’s degree in Culinary Art Management and a pastry certification soon after. Her early experiences as a pastry chef and in grocery retail laid the groundwork for a career built on teaching, creativity and connection.
Today, as a Bakery Technical Counselor at Rich’s, Melanie plays a vital role in training teams for new product launches and store openings across the country. She designs and delivers hands-on sessions that blend Rich’s product portfolio with practical, real-world bakery skills. Her teaching philosophy centers on “working smarter, not harder,” a message that resonates with many new associates. By emphasizing ‘mise en place,’ the art of preparing and organizing before starting production, Melanie helps teams boost their productivity and confidence in fast-paced environments. Whether it’s transforming cinnamon roll dough into waffles or turning biscuit dough into empanadas, Melanie inspires bakers to maximize the versatility of Rich’s products.
At work, Melanie values the relationships she builds along the way. Meeting new people, sharing ideas, and learning how different teams bring Rich’s products to life are what keep her inspired. For her, the best part of the job is being part of a company culture that feels like family.
