Technical Counselor

Jose Garcia

Jose’s baking career began in 1994 in Galveston, Texas—not with a rolling pin, but at the sink washing the pots and pans. Just two weeks in, the bakery manager asked him to work alongside the head baker, crafting cookies, muffins, cakes and pastries entirely from scratch. From there, Jose’s skills and love for the craft flourished.

After two years, Jose stepped into the role of head baker at Fisherman’s Wharf Seafood Restaurant, producing fresh, scratch-made breads and pastries. Eight years later, he took his expertise to Sunflower Bakery, Mosquito Café, and eventually H-E-B, where he served as Bakery Manager for another eight years. In 2011, Jose transitioned into the role of Technical Counselor with Brill Bakery Products, and in May 2019, he brought his passion for teaching and extensive industry experience to Rich’s.

These days, Jose is busy cross-training bakers and decorators to be the best they can be, equipping them with the skills they need to be successful in the industry. His greatest reward is seeing associates gain confidence as they master new techniques.

What drives Jose? The opportunity to share his 30 years of knowledge, the camaraderie of the Rich’s team and the satisfaction of seeing well-trained staff members thrive. Jose especially values Rich’s commitment to its employees—something that, in his experience, leads to better performance and loyalty.

When he’s not working with retail teams, Jose enjoys baking at home for his grandchildren, often using Rich’s products in family celebrations like birthday parties. While he loves a variety of baked goods, Rich’s icings hold a special place in his heart for their quality, sales appeal, and ability to entice customers.
