Technical Counselor
Steven Maltez
“Everyone needs to eat.” These were wise words from Steve’s culinary teacher that resonated with him at the age of 15. Steve attended a vo-tech high school in New York City for culinary arts, where his instructor acted as a mentor to him, inspiring him to pursue baking as a career. Upon graduation, Steve hopped around to several different bakeries of multiple backgrounds, including French, Italian and German pastry shops to get a feel for a variety of baking styles and cultures.
After dabbling in various bakeries for about 15 years and honing his craft, Steve worked his way over to the hospitality industry, baking for several hotels in New York City. From there, he entered the supermarket arena, where he was introduced to Rich Products at a trade show in 1994, and was brought onto the team shortly after.
For almost 30 years, Steve has provided bakery trainings for in store associates as a Technical Counselor for Rich’s. Like in all other facets of his story, Steven is most inspired by the people he works with, and loves that he can have the same impact that others have had on him on those he teaches. Steve received the President's Award awarded by division President Dennis Lanning in 1997, as a testament to his passion for and dedication to his work and Rich’s, of which he is a proud associate.
An NYC transplant living in the Poconos of Pennsylvania, Steve loves bringing a taste of home to his oven when baking New York style pizza.
